John
Zmirak has just published with
Crossroads Press and with the assistance of his photogenic culinary
advisor, Denise Matychowiak, a richly illustrated, two-volume
study of food, drink and other amenities associated with European
Catholic cultures. What is particularly noteworthy about these
volumes, The
Bad Catholic's Guide to Wine, Whiskey, and Songs and The
Bad Catholic's Guide to Good Living, which come to more
than 600 pages, is the wealth of theological and historical facts
Mary and the Wise Guy

It's a clever line. When Christopher Hitchens slams Christianity he does it with style. "If we lost all our hard-won knowledge and all our archives, and all our ethics and all our morals...and had to reconstruct everything essential from scratch, it is difficult to imagine at what point we would need to remind or reassure ourselves that Jesus was born of a virgin."
The line employs a sharp edged bathos: End of civilization drama counterpoised with a sneer at that most-despised of pre-modern Christian dogma - the virgin birth. Religious people gasped, and aggressive atheists snickered, but I sat there wishing that Christopher Hitchens knew more history.
The Real Saint Nick

Given the decision making power of Santa Claus on the matter of gifts, my children make sure they leave Mr. Claus some seriously good cookies on Christmas Eve. However, most children don't know that there is much more to the real Saint Nick than toys and cookies. In addition to being generous, the jolly fellow could easily be considered the patron saint of purity.
DISCREDITING ATHEISM : Science Endorses the Bible!

THE DISCREDITING ATHEISM ARTICLE SERIES:
Atheism or Absurdity
Icons of Absurdity
Science Endorses the Bible!
I must begin this article with an apology that it has taken me so long to publish it. My summer has been so busy, one project after another, no spare moments. My friends and family have been startled to hear me say that I was glad to be going back to school as that would mean more spare time. I imagine that my having time to write this text is evidence that my schedule has slowed greatly.
DISCREDITING ATHEISM : Icons of Absurdity
By J. Adam Craig | Published Wed, 05/03/2006 - 10:01am
In my last article, I introduced the “Discrediting Atheism” article series and offered up some “common sense” evidence for God. As the article began to close I made brief mention to the fact that that argument was inadequate. It is for that exact reason that I brought that issue to center stage first, as I believe that it is always best to go ahead and admit a weakness first rather than later. Having presented an argument that Atheism can be considered “absurd,” I further mentioned that the forthcoming article would be focused on the “Icons of Absurdity.” But what do I mean by the icons of absurdity? Please read on to find out.
Acts of God
By Barbara Cornett | Published Wed, 05/03/2006 - 8:10am
All over the internet and on the tv we have heard glowing reviews of the movie "United 93". Reviewers take on a tone of awe and respect and recommend that everyone see this movie and remember what happened on 9-11.
We tend to memorialize wars and other acts of human beings such as 9-11 in ways that we do not do regarding acts of God such as Katrina. Perhaps it is ego or maybe it has something to do with the knowledge that we have no control over "acts of God".
Neocons And Liberals Are Sides of The Same Coin
By Barbara Cornett | Published Tue, 05/02/2006 - 4:40pm
Most people think that Neocons and Liberals are opposites and that is often true regarding many important issues. Yet in a fundamental way they are the same. Both are busy stirring up hatred against the Judeo-Christian ethics upon which the United States was founded.

The price of gold has climbed to over US$ 600 an ounce. Many are saying this is because of the pending war with Iran. However, this leap in gold prices has little to do with a real or imagined war with Iran, it has to do with greed.
Scientific Proof of God as Prime Mover

DARWIN AND EVOLUTION DON'T MATTER - IT'S WHEN THE SPIRITUAL CHARACTER, OR 'SOUL,' WAS ADDED THAT COUNTS
Cause and effect. It is firmly held by science and logic that each effect that we witness must have a cause. Every plant, every animal and every microorganism lives, functions, evolves and dies as an effect of outside causes or forces. Because of this there is an overall logic to the function and interaction of every living thing on this planet. Except one.
DISCREDITING ATHEISM : Atheism or Absurdity

This article, written by J. Adam Craig, is the first in a series of articles written for the purpose of discrediting Atheism. The focal point of this particular article is to use various common sense approaches to discredit the Atheist philosophy. The articles to follow with focus primarily on the seemingly infinite scientific evidence that can be used to discredit Atheism.
