It is hard to understand why those who are not cognitively challenged write inexplicably stupid things. Although Professor Allan Wolfe and I would not agree on much politically or philosophically, from all accounts he is an intelligent man. In June 1999 he wrote a reasonably perceptive review of my book After Liberalism for The New Republic, the publication in which his multi-paged rage against Russell Kirk has just appeared (sorry, it's not available to non-subscribers online). Acts of God

All over the internet and on the tv we have heard glowing reviews of the movie "United 93". Reviewers take on a tone of awe and respect and recommend that everyone see this movie and remember what happened on 9-11.
We tend to memorialize wars and other acts of human beings such as 9-11 in ways that we do not do regarding acts of God such as Katrina. Perhaps it is ego or maybe it has something to do with the knowledge that we have no control over "acts of God".
